Meeting in Athens hosted by INTRASOFT International

On 19-21 November 2018, the INTRASOFT International’s RID department hosted the Third HiReach Consortium and Take-Up Group meeting in Athens.

HiReach is a Horizon 2020 3-year Research and Innovation Action (RIA) running from 2017 to 2020, aiming to eliminate transport poverty by triggering new mobility solutions. HiReach builds on the potential of bundling and mixing special and non-coordinated trip requests and needs from different vulnerable user groups to favour inclusive and participative mobility rather than exclusive and geographically-limited mobility.

After more than one year of the project duration, the first achievements are already visible. The results of the fieldwork activities were presented during the meeting in Athens and the situation of transport poverty and transport inclusion in Luxembourg, Portugal, Greece, Italy, Romania and Germany was extensively discussed with the Take-Up Group members. The final results from the six study areas will be presented in the project deliverable “Mobility in prioritized areas: inputs from the final-users”.

Four case studies and best practices of the mobility solutions coping with transport poverty and implemented around the EU, including the Flexible transport in Catalonia, German BurgerBus (presented by HiReach partner TUB), GoOpti and Demandtrans, were presented to the consortium by the TuG members. These mobility solutions were extensively discussed and evaluated in parallel workgroups with regards to the potential for reducing transport poverty, its replicability in different local contexts (frameworks, regulations, cultural aspects) and its business potential. In the deliverable “Innovative mobility solutions: case study description and analysis”, on which the team is currently working, 20 mobility solutions will be presented and analyzed in detail.
